Iarnród Éireann runs a very popular commuter train between Cobh and Cork seven days per week. The train stops at Rushbrooke, Carrigaloe, Fota, Glounthane and Little Island before reaching Kent Station in Cork. If you take the ferry across the river, either by foot or by car, you can pick up the train at either the Rushbrooke or Carrigaloe stations. Even if not using the train for commuting purposes, it is worth taking merely for the half hour’s trip. Its route alongside the water and over the Belvelly Channel must make the Cobh to Cork line one of the most breathtakingly beautiful in the country.
