The Poster and Poetry Competition was aimed at the primary schools in Passage West/Monkstown. All primary school attendees were invited to portray the meaning of their town and its environment either through art or writing. There were a huge number of entries to the competition, all of a very high standard. Posters were displayed at the schools before judging.
Presentation of the prizes for the Poster Competition took place at the Passage West Town Hall on 11 April at 7.30 pm. Prizewinners and their families attended and light refreshments were provided. Three winners were selected from each of the primary schools and prizes were presented by Mayor Jim Murphy, Passage West Town Council.

- Eve Coleman (4 th Class)
- Barry O'Connell (5 th Class)
Aisling Kilcommons 4th Class, while not among the prizewinners, presented a very strong clear message in recognition of which a special prize was awarded.

Presentation of the prizes for the Poetry/Essay Competition took place at the Passage West Town Hall on 13 th June at 8.00 pm. Prizewinners and their families attended. Prizes were presented by the Lord Mayor of Cork, Deirdre Clune to three winners from each of the two primary schools.
