Cork Harbour Open Day - Sunday 6th September



Highlighting the best of Cork Harbour with various local events around the harbour:

  • Cobh to Blackrock Race organised by Cove Sailing Club.  First gun 2pm.  Start in Cobh; finish in Blackrock.  This is a time-honoured event running for many years which welcomes all sailing boats from Cork Harbour and further afield.
  • Delphin Voyager arrives in Cobh for her maiden call to Cork Harbour, carrying over 1000 passengers and crew.  Visit Cobh to see this beautiful cruise liner.  Arrives in Cobh 0800, departs 1700.
  • Farmers Food and Craft Markets will take place around the harbour, 12 - 4pm at Monkstown, Cobh, Crosshaven and Blackrock
  • Bishopstown Orienteering Club & Cork Schools Orienteering Association are organising an orienteering event at Marlogue Woods, East Ferry, Cobh any time between 10am - 1pm.
  • Naval Ship will be berthed at the city quays and will be open for public tours.
  • ISA Sail Fleet J'80s will hold a match racing event at 2pm starting in Cobh and finishing in Blackrock.  Sponsored by Port of Cork.
  • Cork Harbour Treasure Hunt organised by Whale of a Time.  Hunt takes place both on and off the water at East Ferry and promises to be both fun and educational.  Duration 3 hours.  Booking essential.  Please call Mike, 021-4652031 or 086-8262114.
  • A car boot sale will take place in Monkstown from 11am - 5pm.  For more details, contact Mamie Bowen, CHASE.
  • Hazelhurst Artist Working Studio, Monkstown, invites people to see paintings produced by local artists in a maritime setting.  Enjoy their work with a cup of tea any time from 12pm - 5pm.  For more details, contact Ivan Wolfe, 087-9475147.
  • Crosshaven lifeboat station will be open to the public.  Call in, visit the station, see the lifeboat and talk to the crew any time between 2pm - 5pm. 
  • Sailing demonstration in Cork Harbour's own 38 foot traditional Bantry Bay Gig, the Fionbarra.  Organised by Meitheal Mara for 5pm from the Upper Harbour to Blackrock.
  • the Royal Cork Yacht Club are hosting the 420 Irish National Championships and the Feva Munster Championships.  Both events take place over Saturday and Sunday.  The 420 and the Feva are two-person dinghies.
  • The Lee Rowing Club will be racing at the Custom House Quay at 2pm.
