Public meeting re. Port of Cork’s proposed container terminal at Ringaskiddy
A public meeting held in relation to the Port of Cork’s proposed move from Tivoli to the Oyster Bank at Ringaskiddy was held in the Sacred Heart Church, Monkstown on Monday 27th November. Over 300 residents from Monkstown, Glenbrook, Passage West, Ringaskiddy, Rushbrooke, White Point, Black Point and Cobh were in attendence.

Celebrating 10 years of Twinning
Chasseneuil du Poitou, Western France, and Passage West/Monkstown will celebrate the 10th Anniversary of the Twinning in November 2007. A delegation of 25 people headed by the Mayor M. Claude Eidelstein and President Gisele Méchain will visit Passage West and Monkstown from 1st – 4th November 2007 to mark this anniversary.

Flower Festival at Sacred Heart Church, Monkstown
Since 1871, the Sacred Heart Church has stood on the side of the Monkstown hills, watching over Cork Harbour. This coming weekend, 28th – 30th September, the Sacred Heart Church is celebrating 136 years of a pivotal role in the life of the Monkstown community by hosting the Monkstown Heritage Flower Festival.

Proposed biodiesel processing plant in Ringaskiddy
A partnership of Bioverda and South Coast Transport proposes to construct a biodiesel processing plant at the former ADM site in Ringaskiddy. It is anticipated that the planning application will be lodged in the next two weeks.
